PRIVACY POLICY OF INNOVENTUALLY S.R.L.S. (“Innoventually” or the “Company”)


This notice describes the Privacy Policy of Innoventually (“Privacy Policy”) concerning the management of our web site as regards processing the personal data of Solvers and Sponsors or third parties (“Users”) that visit us or are willing to use our services, such as development and distribution of innovative technologies, support, valorization, promotion and diffusion of technology research as well as of technology transfer (“Services”). The Services are made available and are accessible via electronic networks from the following address (“Site”).

Users are required to read and comply with the Privacy Policy. The Company may process personal data about Users in connection with operating its business, pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC ("General Data Protection Regulation" or “GDPR”) and D. Lgs. 196/2003 (where still applicable).

The Privacy Policy provides Users with the required information about the scope of the processing, notably, inter alia: i) the types of personal data that are subject to processing; ii) the specific purposes of the processing; iii) how long Innoventually keeps the personal data; v) the circumstances in which Innoventually may share personal data with third parties, including transfer outside of the European Economic Area; as well as the rights of Users with regards to their personal data. Accordingly, within the limits of the scope of the processing indicated in the Privacy Policy, as amended from time to time, in order to complete the registration Users are required to tick a box concerning. Innoventually reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time, and we will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the Site. Navigation Data

The information systems and software procedures relied upon to operate this Site acquire personal data as part of their standard functioning; the transmission of such data is an inherent feature of Internet communication protocols.

Such information is not collected in order to relate it to identified data subjects, however it might allow user identification per se after being processed and matched with data held by third parties. This data category includes IP addresses and/or the domain names of the computers used by any user connecting with this web site, the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the requested resources, the time of such requests, the method used for submitting a given request to the server, returned file size, a numerical code relating to server response status (successfully performed, error, etc.), and other parameters related to the user’s operating system and computer environment.

These data are only used to extract anonymous statistical information on Site use as well as to check its functioning; they are erased immediately after being processed. The data might be used to establish liability in case computer crimes are committed against the Site; except for this circumstance, any data on web contacts is currently retained by Amazon Web Services Inc. ( for no longer than is necessary for the purpose or purposes and, in any event, it is in compliance with current law requirements.

Data Provided Voluntarily by Users

Via this Site, the Company will collect personal information which may allow Users identification, such as, name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, experience, specialization area, education background, curriculum vitae, and other similar information, to the extent that such information is provided on a voluntary basis by the Users at the time of their registration, or when the Users updates their profiles or when the Users request information to the Company, as well as by any individual or entity who registers on the Site in order to access the Services provided by the Company.

The provision of the data required for the registration to the Site is a condition to access the Services provided by the Company. The incomplete or incorrect provision of required information or lack thereof might result in the impossibility to register on the Site and therefore to use the Services and the opportunities offered by the Site.

Moreover, sending e-mail messages to the addresses mentioned on this Site, which is done on the basis of a freely chosen, explicit, and voluntary option, entails acquisition of the sender’s address, which is necessary in order to reply to any request, as well as of such additional personal data as is contained in the message(s). The Company will use the information to reply to the requests or to communicate with Users with regards to its activities and Services, whereas, from time to time, the Company may use the information in order to better understand Users’ needs and improve the Site, the products or Services. As specified also below, the Company may use information for purposes such as:

The provision, management and execution of the challenges and the innovative services offered by the Site;

Publishing and management on the Site of relevant content relating to the Services (documents, information, images, videos);

Management of potential claims and litigation.

In such instances where professors, researchers or other affiliates at Universities and/or public and private research centers that have entered into a cooperation agreement with Innoventually, shall participate in open innovation challenges or, more in general, submit proposals and other documents to reply to open innovation challenges/needs, Innoventually may inform the University and/or the research centers about the results of the innovative challenges, or of any other initiative in the open innovation area, to which the above-mentioned subjects have taken part. The information thereby provided concerns the number of participants, the scope of the Open Innovation project, as well as the names of the persons who submitted a proposal or other documents to Innoventually.

In case a solver has the right to the award foreseen at the end of a challenge, the Company may need to obtain information required to discharge tax obligations or otherwise required by the law.


No cookies are used to transmit personal information, nor are so-called persistent cookies or user tracking systems implemented.

Use of the so-called session cookies – which are not stored permanently on the user’s computer and disappear upon closing the browser – is exclusively limited to the transmission of session ID’s – consisting of server-generated casual numbers – as necessary to allow secure, effective navigation.

The so-called session cookies used by this Site make it unnecessary to implement other computer techniques that are potentially detrimental to the confidentiality of user navigation, whilst they do not allow acquiring the user’s personal identification data.


Subject to the specifications made with regard to navigation data, users are free to provide the personal data either to be entered in the forms to be submitted to the Company or referred to in communication exchanges with the Company in order to request the newsletter, the delivery of information materials and/or other communications. Failure to provide such data may entail the failure to be provided with the items requested, without prejudice to the requirements for the provision of the Site’s Services (above).


Innoventually may process Users’ personal data in order to:

fulfil our contractual obligations to Users or in order to take steps at the request of the Users prior to entering into a contract with us;

comply with a legal obligation to which Innoventually is subject; perform a task carried out in the public interest;

We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Users’ data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Where you have chosen (or where we have given you) a password which enables you to access certain Services or use specific tools connected with the use of the Site (e.g. your PayPal account), you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask that you do not share your password with anyone.

Personal data is processed with automated means for no longer than is necessary to achieve the purposes for which it has been collected. Specific security measures are implemented to prevent the data from being lost, used unlawfully and/or inappropriately, and accessed without authorisation.

Data processing may be performed manually, or by automated or electronic means for the purposes of storing, managing or transfer the data. In particular, for the purpose of data security, Amazon Web Services Inc. (, which provides hosting services to the Site, uses firewalls, or such other security systems that should block unauthorized access to companies’ IT services.

Innoventually uses such systems that impede public and unrestricted access to the information on the Site by making access to and/or download of such information conditional upon a specific registration procedure to the Site and subsequent authentication.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to us via the Internet; any such transmission is at your own risk.


The Site may contain links to sites owned and/or operated by the Company’s partners or to other sites that may contain useful information for users who are interested in the Services provided by the Company.

The Privacy Policy only applies to the Innoventually’s Site and does not concern any web sites that may be visited by users via external links, e.g. to partners’ websites. We suggest checking and/or contacting such other sites to obtain information about their respective privacy statements.

In order to access the Services of the Site, the user expressly agrees that Innoventually may share personal information with any of the Solvers and Sponsors of the challenges as well as with its partners, who may have their respective registered offices also in Third Countries, such as the United States of America, South Korea, or Japan. In all such instances, the personal data transferred shall be only that strictly necessary for the provision of the Services required and the fulfilment of contract obligations. We forbid use of that information for other purposes.


Data subjects have the right to withdraw consent at any time, and are entitled to obtain confirmation of the existence of personal data concerning them and be informed of their contents and origin, verify their accuracy, or else request that such data be supplemented, updated or rectified as well as to receive their personal data in a machine-readable format.

Users also have the right to request erasure, anonymization or blocking of any data that is processed in breach of the law as well as to object in all cases, on legitimate grounds, to processing of the data. All requests should be emailed to Abuses will be prosecuted.

Innoventually will not disclose your personally identifiable information except:

- when requested to do so by law enforcement agencies;
